Jamboree on the AirJOTA weeked is 16th – 18th October, 2009.  This is a great activity to do as a group and it gives everyone a opportunity to talk over the radio to other groups.

This year Warramunda Scout Camp which is at Tahmoor is holding the event and I am planning on participating  on Saturday 17th October, as all the activities are guaranteed to be running.

There is going to be a monkey bridge, flying fox, & activities.  If you attend you will receive the 2009 Jota badge which you get to wear on your uniform. Could everyone please  let me know if they are interested in attending as we need to let them know how many badges needed.

Cost is $7.50 for the day, not sure if there will be extra cost for badges will let you know when I ring them with numbers. Closing date for the event will be last night of term as it is being held on last weekend of holidays.  Can Permission notes  be passed onto koala or left in joey tray in kitchen and money put in a clearly marked envelope with your name and the title of the event and put it in fee box (don't put permision notes in with the fees or they will be lost). The Permission notes can be downloaded from here (but you must log on first!)  Yours Truely,

It's your life... Get on with it!

1st Leumeah Scouts is Launching its Venturer Section.

It’s a do-it-yourself mix of fun, adventure and personal challenge that will bring you together with other young people who feel the same way. You may find yourself exploring wilderness Australia, camping above the snowline or diving on coral reefs. You could be abseiling into a limestone cave or climbing a sheer rock face. Perhaps you’ll learn white water kayaking or ride your mountain bike on an expedition across real mountains. Whatever your challenge, you will have the opportunity to test your limits, explore new worlds and most importantly have fun in a safe environment.

Manage your own program

Venturers don’t just develop physical skills. You will manage your own Venturer Unit, where the adult leaders are there to provide advice, not rule your life. The Unit Council makes the decisions, plans and runs the activities, drawing on expert help whenever it is required.

Look Wide

There are leadership opportunities that will help you in your career and personal life, when you have to make all the decisions. You’ll learn how to meet new challenges, deal with new situations, and develop your own independence. Your achievements will be recognised, with the ultimate goal the Queen’s Scout Award, which employers regard very favourably. Venturers really is the pathway to success.

Get a social life

The Social side of Venturers is up to you. There will be camps and discos, outings and shared interest so you will meet new people and have plenty of time to get to know them and make lifelong friends. Venturers are serious about having fun.

Venturer Scouts is for young people from 14.5 – 17.5 and you don’t have to have experience in Scouts or Guides first.

It’s your call – to find out call Lee Vossen on 0437 057 702.

First of all, a big thank you to everyone who could make it to the Bunnings BBQ fundraiser. It was a great day. For those that couldn't make it I thought I might paint a picture of the effort that was made:

Item      Quantity
 Sausages  51 Kg (1)
Onions 14 Kg(all hand cut, Patricia is still crying)
 Bread 67 loaves

(call it 22 slices per loaf - that gives us:

11 sandwiches per loaf or:

737 or so sandwiches! not a bad days work at all!)

 Napkins 9 packets
 Sauce BBq and Tomato
 Drinks Coke/Water/Lemonade

After the dust had all settled the Group made $1313.00. Thank you to those who where able to participate in what was a great day, especiBBqally Patricia who organised all the supplies for the BBQ. It takes a lot of time & effort to prepare for the BBQ and the money is used entirely for  the 1st Leumeah  Scout Group. For those of you who couldn't be there, no problems I know somethings things are difficult to do. Just remember the difficult things are often the most rewarding! As you know we are reactivating the Venturer unit and this will require that we be able to provide canoes, abseiling gear and a host of other stuff so lets get behind the group.

You next opprotunity to help is by selling all of your tickets to UP! and returning the money as quickly as possible. We are committed to 2 cinemas on the night so we really need to sell all of the tickets!
