Hume Region organises trip to Quarantine Station - Adults/Leaders Only PDF Print E-mail

Dear Ghost Traveller,

Welcome to our Q Station Bus Trip.

Q Station was formerly known as the North Head Quarantine Station.  This was the first port of call for many new comers to the land down under.  The tour we will be embarking on will take us back to those days when disease was rampant and many did not survive.  Q Station tells of many of these stories and much much more.

After the enthralling journey back in time we will then travel to Woolloomooloo where we will dine in style at Harry’s Café De Wheels.  Did you know that Harry’s is now  recognised with the National Trust. Having started operation in 1938 Caravan Diners of this type were not allowed to be fixed to one spot so being a dutiful and law abiding person Harry Edwards moved the diner 12 inches every day thus the “de wheels”. A trip to Harry’s lets you enjoy authentic Aussie tucker while taking a trip back through Harry’s history scattered around the outer perimeter of his van.

I ask you to meet me at Hume Region Office at 7pm on Saturday 30th October 2010 with your formal invitation where we will start our amazing journey.  This Bus Tour is designed for those who would like a little bit of fun.  FANCY DRESS is OPTIONAL (but preferred). There will be trivia quizzes and lots of fun aboard the coaches.

I have attached for you a flyer to remind you of this journey together with an A1 form which MUST be completed  (and is located here) and returned with your  deposit (which is non-refundable) of $45 to Hume Region Office by the 30th April 2010.  Also attached is a Menu for Harry’s which I would request you complete as well and return.

Once you have paid your full fare of $85.00  (by the 30th August 2010) you will be given your Passenger Passport which entitles you to travel back in time to a place where many would not dare to go.

Come and join my many friends and I on an adventure of a lifetime.

Should you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0410 981 687.

Yours In Scouting

Anne  Lilly
